On 20 October, Paul Lai, President of the Australia Macau General Commercial Chamber (AMGCC), was invited by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to attend the high-level roundtable on "Invested: Australia's Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040" at the DFAT Victoria State Office. The discussion was chaired by Australia's Special Envoy for Southeast Asia, Nicholas Moore AO, convening Chinese Australian and Chinese-Southeast Asian Australian business leaders.

As highlighted in the Australian Government's "Invested 2040" strategy, Southeast Asia is projected to become the world's fourth-largest economy by 2040, offering a practical framework to deepen two-way trade and investment that has already seen bilateral trade climb by nearly A$6 billion. During the meeting, AMGCC shared practical perspectives on leveraging Chamber networks to facilitate regional engagement, followed by valuable informal discussions with the Special Envoy and fellow delegates over networking refreshments. AMGCC remains dedicated to strengthening commercial ties and mutual trust across Australia, the Greater Bay Area, and Southeast Asia.
