The Australia Macau General Commercial Chamber (AMGCC) joined the 2025 Melbourne Moon Festival (墨爾本中秋美食園遊會) at Box Hill Town Hall on Saturday 13 September, taking part both as a stall holder and as a supporting partner.
The festival was organised by the Melbourne Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce (MTCC) with support from the City of Whitehorse, and ran from 10am to 6pm, with stalls and food trucks filling the Town Hall's front lawn and driveways. At our stall, we sold a range of Mid-Autumn and Macau themed pieces: embossed festival lamps, small lanterns, mooncake night lights, keyrings and fridge magnets in moon rabbit and mooncake designs, Portuguese tile magnets, and our "Macau Street" series. The tile magnets in particular got people asking questions, and gave us a natural way into talking about Macau's blend of Chinese and Portuguese heritage.
The Mid-Autumn Festival has always been about reunion. Watching families and neighbours from so many backgrounds spend the day together under the same moon reminded us why we take part in events like this in the first place.
Thank you to the MTCC for organising such an enjoyable festival, to the City of Whitehorse for supporting it, and to every volunteer and visitor who stopped by our stall. Thanks also to our own team, Senior Administrative Associate Raymond, Senior Project Associate Edward, and Associate Brian, who prepared the stall and kept it running through the day. We look forward to working with our fellow community organisations again soon. We hope to see you at the next one.
